Frequently Asked Questions
-
Each of our trips is physically challenging and requires you to be on your feet for multiple hours every day, often carrying a pack, however, each trip will be subject to a different degree of fitness requirement. To help you determine whether or not you can perform at the level required we have given each trip a difficulty grade. More information on these grades can be found here.
Ensuring that you meet the required fitness ability before departing on your trip is necessary to allow full participation throughout the trip and to ensure both your safety as well as the safety of the group.
If you have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we can discuss any questions you may have.

We want to make each of our adventures as accessible to everyone as possible, however, some of our trips will require more experience than others. We have given each trip a difficulty grade to assist you in deciding if you have the correct fitness ability and experience to participate. More information about our grades can be found here. If you have any concerns then please feel free to contact us.

Each of our adventures has its own carefully planned kit list, which may differ according to the climate and activity you will engage in. Some trips will require specialist gear like crampons whereas as others you will be fine in everyday outdoor or sports clothing. All our trips have specific kit lists which, you can view and download on each trip’s page.

Food is an integral part of any trip. It is a taste of the local culture and a means to immerse ourselves in the place we're visiting, but it is also the fuel that will keep you going during the journey. We always strive to provide the best food available, using local foods as much as possible to lessen our environmental impact. Food will vary from one trip to another, but we try to blend local cuisine with some Western favourites to ensure everyone can stay fueled during the trip.

Yes, we do everything in our power to ensure every food request communicated before each trip is taken care of. Please let us know this information when you complete your medical declaration. We do not have any problems with most dietary requirements, though some places may be less able to offer what you're used to at home. Gluten-free pasta, for example, may not always be available; in a situation like this, we would provide you with a different staple, such as rice or potatoes. Alternatively, you are welcome to bring a few of your own supplies when appropriate. If you have any concerns, please contact us.

It’s hard to say exactly who will be on each trip. Our trips often attract a diverse range of people from all walks of life. However, the common thing that connects everyone is a passion for getting outside and exploring the world.

We like to think there is no such thing as bad weather as long as you have the right gear with you. We won’t stay inside just because it is raining or the sun hasn’t come out yet; however, if your guide considers the weather to pose a risk or be dangerous, then they will adapt or even cancel the day to keep both you safe and the trip enjoyable.
-
We have a lower age limit set at 18 if you are a solo traveller; however, if accompanied by a parent or guardian, we accept bookings from 16 and 17-year-olds. No upper age limit is set, but it's essential to be physically fit for all of our adventures so that you can fully participate. If you have any concerns or want to bring younger participants, please contact us.

While tipping may not be customary in everyone's home culture, it is deeply appreciated and significantly contributes to the livelihood of our guides, who often rely on this seasonal work. Our guides are dedicated and frequently exceed our expectations with their passion and commitment.
Your international guide will offer a recommended tipping amount for the local team, helping you adhere to local customs and show appreciation for their service.
As for your international guide, tips are never expected but always appreciated. A common tipping rate is approximately 5% of the trip cost per person. For instance, on a $2000 trip, a standard tip would be about $100 per person. However, as with any service, the actual amount should reflect your experience and satisfaction. Tips are never expected but always appreciated.
